AHPRA Address Change

As a provisional psychologist, one of the most important things you need to do when you change your address or personal information is to update your information with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Failing to do so can have serious consequences, both for you and for the people you work with.

Here are some of the reasons why it is so important to keep your personal details and address up-to-date with AHPRA:

AHPRA Contact and Registration Currency
AHPRA needs to be able to contact you in case of an emergency or to provide important information about your registration. For example, if your registration is due for renewal then AHPRA  may post you your forms. If your contact details are not up-to-date, you may miss important information or be unable to respond to requests. If your registration lapses you will need to cease practicing until your registration is approved which can take on average 3 to 6 weeks and in some cases may not be approved.

We have recently seen some provisional psychologists unable to work due to lapse in registration, impacting their income and their client caseload. We want to make sure we prevent this for anyone else who may have overlooked this step.

Clients Needing to Reach You

Have you checked your record on the practitioner lookup portal? https://www.ahpra.gov.au/registration/registers-of-practitioners.aspx

It is important that clients are able to reach you if they need to. If your contact details are not up-to-date with AHPRA, your clients may not be able to do so.

Professional Reputation

As a provisional psychologist, you are building your professional reputation, and it is important that you are seen as reliable and trustworthy. Keeping your contact details up-to-date with AHPRA is one way to demonstrate your commitment to your profession and to your clients. It shows that you take your responsibilities seriously and that you are willing to comply with the legal requirements of your profession.

So, how do you update your address with AHPRA?

If you have recently moved or changed your contact details, make sure to update your information with AHPRA as soon as possible to avoid any negative consequences.

Complete a CHPD-00 form and upload it to AHPRA via your online portal. You can find a copy of this form HERE.
