Who is facilitating this masterclass?

Board Approved Supervisor, Director and Psychologist Susie Upton

Susie has had a successful career since 2006, starting in the vocational rehabilitation and return-to-work sector developing skills in adjustment to injury and adult mental health. During her early career Susie worked in team coordinator and leadership roles within the youth homelessness non-for-profit sector. Susie attributes these challenging roles to invaluable experiences in rapport building, working alongside the child protection system and working with young people affected by trauma.

In 2011, Susie joined a child psychology practice where she worked in all areas affecting children's mental health. Susie has held management and leadership roles within the non-for-profit sector working with children affected by child sexual assault in which she led a team of counsellors, provisional psychologists, social workers and psychologists in the delivery of intervention to survivors of children sexual assault and professional development training programs.

In 2013, Susie co-founded a multi-location private practice in Brisbane, which was later acquired by a national early intervention service in January 2021. In this role, she was responsible for recruitment, induction, supervision, and oversight of the clinical team, as well as the provision of high quality services to clients. Susie has been recognised for her contributions to psychology, winning the Queensland Young Business Woman of the Year award in 2015 and the Griffith University Outstanding Alumni award. In 2018, she co-founded Provisional Psychologist Hub, where she provides national clinical oversight to a team of board-approved supervisors.

Throughout her career, Susie has worked in the private, corporate, and non-profit sectors, focusing particularly on leadership roles that ensure evidence-based intervention and best practice for children and adolescents. She has extensive management and leadership experience in relation to ethical and professional issues faced by employers, psychologists, and provisional psychologists.
