Child Therapy Starter Pack 

1. All About Me Board Game

All About Me is a tool designed to facilitate rapport building with children, allowing clinicians to gather information and get to know their child clients in a non-threatening and non-confrontational way. Three areas are explored in the board game;

1. Strengths and Difficulties

2. Feelings and Behaviour

3. People in the child's life

All About Me is designed for use with children aged 5-12 years of age. This is a fun, yet useful way, of engaging children in the counselling process and is a perfect addition to any psychologists toolbox.

2. What Works When with Children and Adolescents 

Ann Vernon, 2002

This practical handbook offers over 100 creative activities and effective interventions for  children and adolescents (ages 6-18). The interventions are based on Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and are presented in a practical manner, describing specific techniques to use for a range of presenting issues. 

 3. Bear Cards 

Includes 48 full colour illustrations of bears, each demonstrating a different emotion. Can be used creatively and diversely in therapy to facilitate discussion and reflection on feelings.

Adolescence is a turbulent time for most teenagers. This book provides practical strategies to assist teenagers to build their self-esteem so that they are better positioned to navigate social challenges. Helping our young clients to relate to themselves and others in a kind and accepting manner enhances their coping abilities and promotes their resilience and well-being.  

3. Stone Cards 

Emotional literacy is a key skill we can teach our clients. This pack includes 52 illustrations of stones demonstrating a range of emotions. You can include these diversely and creatively in your sessions to facilitate discussions about different topics, all the while encouraging your client to increase their awareness of their emotions. 

4.The Mindfulness Puzzle Book 

Gareth Moore, 2016

Mindful activities is a useful activity to engage teenagers in relaxation and stress-reduction practice. The book contains a range of a puzzles of varying difficulty level and encourages teenagers to explore their creativity while becoming actively involved in positive and rewarding solitary activity. 


Adult Therapy Starter Pack

Stress is apart of everyday life and is a prevalent problem across a range different psychological disorders. This resource is a highly useful tool for clinicians and contains step-by-step guides on how to assist clients in identifying their stress responses and instructions on how to deliver targeted interventions to assist clients to increase their ability to cope with stress and down-regulate their stress-related tension and arousal.

4. Optimism Booster Cards 

Selina Byrne, 2017

These cards can be used with adult clients to facilitate discussions around challenging negative thoughts and identifying positive alternative perspectives and courses of action. The pack contains 30 laminated full-colour cards.
