Currently working as a school psychologist in a local high school dealing with anxiety to risk and gender diversity as well as school refusal and assisting the learning support department with students who have additional needs. Jaya spent 12 years working within NSW Prisons, in particular drug and alcohol treatment for male offenders. Jaya has over a decade of experience working as a Psychologist. In Corrections she was part of a program that built a strong therapeutic alliance and worked therapeutically with men who offended and had drug and alcohol issues to aid them to re-integrate successfully back into the community. Jaya is an experienced group facilitator having spent years running groups for men and women in custody that targeted drug and alcohol issues as well as offending behaviour using evidence based treatment approaches including CBT and DBT. Jaya uses a person-centred approach and adapts to the needs of the client.

She has also worked in other areas of public sector in addition to the non-government sector and private practice. She has worked with young people, children and families and has extensive experience in the disability sector. She went on to gain her registration through the 4 + 2 pathway and has a Masters in Forensic Mental Health.
